Bio

Sandy Eldred is an internationally acclaimed bassist, improviser, recording artist, composer, and music educator currently living in Philadelphia, PA. Eldred is known for his inventiveness and command across music genres. He is proud to be represented by LabelWhoAble.

Eldred is a member of large ensembles: Norman David and the Eleventet, Jamal Jones’ Bureau of Sonic Wonderland, Ian O’Beirne’s Slowbern, and the Earl Phillips Big Band. He has also performed with the South Philly Big Band, the Lars Halle Jazz Orchestra, Matt Gallagher’s Philly Big Band, and Bobby Zankel and the Warriors of the Wonderful Sound under the direction of Muhal Richard Abrams.

Eldred is a co-founder of U.S.E. Trio (Urbina, Scarano, Eldred), an active member of Many Mansions, the Bogdan Gumenyuk Quintet, Mars Apes, Buzz (Talk), and leader of the Sandy Eldred Trio.

As an educator, Eldred offers lessons, masterclasses, and workshops. Eldred received a Masters Degree from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. He has taught students at various universities in the United States, Canada, and Ukraine.
